Just had an inkling something's a bit different with how ds feeds. He seems to struggle keeping his mouth open wide to latch, moving to lips just around the nipple so I have to break him off and start again. Latch is easier if I squeeze my breast with my hand - I thought at first this is because my breasts are a bit saggier than when I fed dd.
He breaks off from a feed a lot, crying and when I try and get him back on breast he will often sort of head but it, he is still hungry though.
Seems to suffer badly from painful trapped wind and doesn't do that many poos (although lots of wet nappies).
He is definitely gaining weight though.
I just remember dd feeding a lot but not coming on and off and the latch slipping. Is this just an individual difference or does it sound like ds needs some professional attention?
And what do I do from here? Thanks in advance if you can help to reassure or advise me.
Oh he also makes a loud swallowing noise when he drinks and falls asleep on the breast a lot. He's 1 month old.
I know a lot of this stuff can be normal but I don't want to ignore if there is a problem that can be fixed. He seems in a lot of pain in the evenings.
