Trying a bottle

So my baby is 15 weeks. I've been trying her in a bottle for a few weeks but stopped as we went in holiday and she'd been hating the bottle, we didn't see the point on taking stuff with us when she wasn't having any of it! We tried again last night and today. She sucks away and takes a bit...maybe 0.5oz but then just plays at the teat and doesn't take any more. I'd really like her to take a bottle occasionally am I getting closer or not?!

How much does your 15 week old have in one feed?!

My DD is 19 weeks. She'll take about 3-4 oz from a bottle. What bottles are you using? We started using tommy tippee closer to nature then switched to avent (the c2n kept blocking). At 4 months you could try a doidy cup or a sippy cup if she dislikes the bottle.

Why do you need her to take a bottle?

We'll keep perservering. We have the tommee tippee ones. Have the number one teat and the variflow too. Don't want to start buying lots of different bottles-where would you end?! We could spend a fortune!

Creature we'd like her to have a bottle as I don't want to breastfeed forever! I'd like to be able to do something and go out, or at least have the option!

ds is 14 weeks. was really worried that he was going to have hard time whilst I was away as all he'd done previously was fight bottle or play with it like it was a game - but he was fine! he had between 4 - 6 oz at each feed I think. Maybe just go out to the cinema or something if you've got family/friends willing to babysit? you won't be away long but could leave a bottle for when little one gets hungry. we actually did this as a trial run a couple of weeks ago and was the first time he took a few ounces. this was with my mum though and after that (until I wasn't there) he went back to the "ooh what a fun game,I'll push this out of my mouth, dribble and laugh at mummy/daddy" behaviour! little bigger Grin
