Do I really need to spend money so I can Breast feed?

I'll get straight to the point.
I have one inverted nipple. This was one of a few reasons I couldn't breast feed my dd.

This time I have heard about the Nipplette but tbh I really don't want to spend £30 on it as I don't see its nessecary.

Is there any other way I can get my "inny" nipple to become an "outy"? Grin

Mine appeared to be inverted and the Obs was concerned, but when I mentioned that they do stick out a little under (ahem) appropriate stimulation, she said that they should be fine, and they were. I now definitely do not have inverted nipples! I didn't do anything to them before ds's birth.

I can't help wondering whether your inability to feed your dd was more to do with other reasons (support, advice, etc) as I too struggled to feed ds. It might be a good idea for you to go to some NCT or LLL breastfeeding workshops before having your baby, to give you a fresh start so to speak. I did feed my second successsfully.

Not saying anything against Nipplette etc, just a different perspective.

Oh it definatly had alot to do with lack of support PC. Spot on.
I just remember this being another little spanner in the works IYSWIM.

I'll be at a different hopsital this time and different area so hopefully I'll get some better advice although I've already checked out LLL and NCT and they don't have anyone near me.

Tbh the more I'm reading up on this the more I'm convinced it probably won't be a problem, providing I can get some early help. Its on my birth plan that I would like help and I along with dh will keep mentioning it so fingers crossed...

What about the Association of Breastfeeding Mothers? Don't know anything about them though.

You know that you can get telephone support from the NCT as well? I cried on their shoulders many times.

I haven't heard of them. I'll check it out.
Since we move on Wednesday, I managed to get an appt with the local MW so I'm going to ask her for some local numbers for help and see if there are any local clinics, support groups etc.

The Association of Breastfeeding Mothers is one of the four charities/organisations that run helplines. Our number is 08704017711. You will get through to a counsellor who is geographically local to you in most cases and may know of local support groups in your area.

Thanks Smile
I'd just checked out the website and wrote the number in my diary.
It linked to some other useful support groups but it said that there wasn't any in our area. Nearest one is 30 miles away!
