Ready for the next size teat?

Hi. I've posted on here loads recently and everyone has been really helpful.
DD is 6 weeks tomorrow. A couple of weeks ago I mentioned to HV that she was getting really fussy during feeds. She suggested moving up to size 2 teats. I was dubious but gave it a go- which resulted in DD throwing up everywhere.
We continued with size 1 and she seemed to get better. However, recently she's been getting fussy again - shaking her head away from the teat etc. And she's falling asleep after only 1.5oz, having previously been a really good eater.
So is she ready for the next size, do you think? I'm reluctant to try due to the epic sick last time. Plus, she still sometimes chokes and splutters on the size 1s.
WWYD? And what's the best way of introducing the new size?

Sounds like she is ready for the next size. It may take a while for your dd to get used to it.

what bottles are you using? My dc used tommee tipeeand there is a teat that is sort of variable flow...ithas a cross in the top rather than a hole, so your dd will control how much milkshe takes by how hardshe sucks, rather than the teat size controlling the flow?

here they are

Agree with Joyce, does your brand of bottles have a 'VariFlow' teat you could try instead? This is a teat which has a variable flow (obvs!) depending on how hard your DC sucks. We found using this for a few weeks helped bridge the gap between teat size 1 and 2.

otherwise, just persevere with the size 2. Your LO will get used to it within a couple of feeds. Beware that the milk isnt too hot though, as it comes out so much faster with a level 2 teat that it might be quite a shock for your LO to get a big mouthful of very warm milk.

We've got Dr Brown's. As far as I know they don't have vari-flow.
She's doing ok with the size 2s though.
Thanks.
