Can colostrum be a symptom of pregnancy?

Just that really!
I stopped bfing DS a few months ago, around his 2nd birthday, and my boobs were still producing teeny amounts of milk ages after but I was avoiding 'bothering' them in case it kept it up.
This morning I was rubbing a bit of dry skin off righty's nip and lo and behold - colostrum appeared! Actual colostrum, completely clear, yellow, sticky. Have checked, and could express some too. Tried lefty, and it also produced, more creamy but still yellow. Confused
Boobs are a bit swollen and tender too.

I'm due on any day and can't POAS until DH gets home, so Saturday morning at the earliest. First cycle TTC #2, so v happy if I am pg.

Can you produce colostrum if you're not either pregnant or bfing?

I can only answer your last question and say I believe yes you can, if you have elevated pro lactin levels (which can happen if your pituitary gland has issues).

Hope you are expected though that sounds much more fun!

Quick POAS! Why wait? Everywhere sells them these days xx

Grin Yes, Google tells me it's possible too, but in pretty unlikely circs. Normal milk wouldn't have phased me at all, but colostrum is a bit weird!

I really want to test when DH is here, don't want to tell him over the phone, and am really rubbish at keeping secrets.

Congratulations, but just to say that I have always been able to produce a little bit of colostrum from my nips, since I was a teenager, I'm late 30's now, and haven't been pregnant for much of that time! :o

I know. I actually found a lump in my boob when I was about 22. (BC) When I went to have it examined at the hospital the junior doc asked me 'Any unusual discharge' and I explained about it, and that i'd been able to do that for years and he made me feel ike a right twit in from of the nurse who was there by dismissing it with a sarcastic comment. Bastard!

Junior docs are a weird bunch - often either far too sympathetic or no bedside manner whatsoever! I guess it takes a few years to get the hang of how do deal with patients, but really, no manners sometimes!
