Ds is 11weeks coming up for twelve and has been rolling over front to back for a few days nowSmile had him weighed today and he is 16lb 5oz and my dh informed his dm of the weight progress to which she said do you think he is feeding too much...he is ebf and wish she would just peeeeeee offffffff!!!! She also said do you think he needs to start going on to baby rice and formula instead ConfusedConfusedConfused I'm fed up of silly comments about how MY BREASTMILK is not enough!!! The proof is in the baby and the weight gain!!!

So he's feeding too much and yet needs weaning Hmm

Smile and nod at deranged mil.

My mil is convinced 8mo DS can't eat real food without eating mush first. I told her to try telling him that as he refuses to be spoon fed!

DuelingFanjo · 21/08/2013 21:16

Does your DH know enough about breastfeeding and weaning to put her straight? Maybe if he said something she'd stop commenting.

Yawner247 · 21/08/2013 21:23

He did say he's bf he feeds on demand...Smile I'm smiling and nodding

I also use the smile and nod treatment when poor DS is completely crowded by mil as she's so panicky about him cruising. It saves a lot of bad feeling by only inwardly seething.

I have a very flinchy friend that panics with every movement of my dd!! I occasionally snap she's okay don't make a fuss it makes it worse!!! Some people just don't understand that they aren't helpful!! Hmm

My usually lovely MIL seemed to take leave of her senses when my DS was a young infant. I remember when visiting she had him and he was getting a bit unsettled and I said that I thought he was hungry she whisked him away fom me saying to him "No, you're not hungry, are you, you never get a chance to get hungry". He was a 6 week old EBF baby, yes he fed a lot. She handed him back a few minutes as he was, indeed, hungry. I did a lot of biting my tongue as I know she generally means well. BLW also made her head explode Grin

Yes through the heat wave my whole entire family have been saying ooh perhaps he's not getting enough maybe you need to top up....the answer has strictly been nope he's telling me to make more by feeding more!!! Sometimes I just want to scream!!!!!

I do think a lot of people just don't understand bfing. They assume a constantly feeding baby means they aren't getting enough.

My own mother said it was 'odd' to feed a baby over 6 months, as if DS suddenly changed at 6mo. Hmm I'm still feeding at 8mo and occasionally state the WHO guideline of 2years to which she is Shock but has learnt to bite her tongue. Smile

Hawkmoth · 22/08/2013 07:34

"Formula's really good for them too"...

I went to the shop walking really slowly for some biscuits while my face stopped being red and glaring

Yawner247 · 22/08/2013 08:50

Haha whenever I use the WHO say two years I get the I do t see the importance after six months...I fed dd to one year and had to stop as was returning on shift work, I couldn't express and she wasn't interested in bottles!!! Everybody said what benefit is she getting...except dh!! Love how many people say formula is just as good!! Smile

I get all this kind of stuff from my older sister. However, she has no kids and I have 3. So it REALLY winds me up. I just roll my eyes at her and walk away Smile

Yawner247 · 22/08/2013 22:35

Haha dd has made it 2.4 years an has not watched tv on a daily basis...she watches things on you tube like nursery rhymes every now and then....she doesn't recognise any of the crappy character products in the supermarket which is ace!!!! Grin
