Benefits of limited bf

Hi wondering if anyone has seen any research on to what extent it's beneficial to offer limited bf over seven months. All the research I've seen is about three months or six months but then there seems to be a void Imgoing back to work and am considering whther to pump twice a day (so about 450 ml total) . Ill leave in the morning before she's up and bcs we've nearly always given bottle of ebm in the evening I don't want to put boobs back into the bedtime routine (as much as I'd like to be able to continue actually feeding her), I think the only practical solution once back at work is two pumping sessions a day. My doctor says its worth it "if it doesn't stress me out" which doesn't sound Terribly scientific as a response. Formula makes me feel a bit sick tho dd seems fine with it! Any ideas on whether its worth it? Coz of course pumping is a shag , without any of the fun of actual feeding. Tks!

Everything I have ready suggests that you should continue giving breast milk for as long as possible. In fact my DS1 had only breast milk until he was 18 months. I went back to work when he was 6 months and expressed at work three times a day. Yes it was a bit of a pain but somehow it made going back to work esier knowing that I was still doint this one thing for my DS1 and in reality it meant I got lots of nice breaks at work and could ease myself back into working life. In total I would express between 450 and 500ml a day and freeze any not needed the next day for use when I had something special on at work and couldn't express as much a I wanted to. I would say that if you can express at work it is definately worth it!!

Thanks so much. Newmum you deserve a medal for so much pumping. I know what you mean tho about easing transition -- and in my case I think easing guilt or similar about abandoning her to go earn a crust... Thanks mil
