After a year of bfing I really need to stop. DS3 still wakes so often at night.
I feed before lunch nap and bedtime nap. Then at least 4 times a night, but sometimes 10+ times a night!
He takes cows milk from a cup, is 12 mo, I need a social life/sleep back.
Can I just express as needed overnight/day time? How long until the milk dries up?

I went cold turkey at night with my son when he was 10 months. It was 2/3 nights of 2/3 wakes of 45 minutes rocking to get him to sleep but after that it was fine and it meant he slept so much better.
Not through comI had to breastfeed him until 1 as he had milk allergy as a baby so never had formula, but by then he was only doing 2/3 feeds of 5-10 minutes and I just dropped one a week until they had all gone. No problem at all, even with bedtime. I replaced the feeds with milk in a cup and lots with cereal and porridge.
Sounds like your child doesn't need the feed in the night, like he's not hungry, it's just habit and for me, it was the quickest route back to sleep for him and me.

Someone said to me "if you woke up in the night and someone offered you a biscuit you might have it, but you don't need biscuits in the night".....
I think the milk took a couple of weeks to dry up and it was a full 4 weeks before I got my period. I totally understand wanting to get a life back - for me stopping the feeding was a good way to start.

Sounds bad and is bad at the time, but for me it was a good sacrifice to make for the sake of an improved quality of life for me and ny son.
Not a miracle sleep through (who really has that?) but less waking and better feeding and sleeping during the day.
