So I am BFing my 7 month old, she'll be 8 months end of next week. She has got teeth really early, she already has six and is cutting two more at the bottom - def earlier than DD1. Was starting to feel a little uncomfortable feeding at times, but just fed her before her nap and she's left puncture marks with her top teeth like a little vampire! I am going back to work in sep, so need to stop daytime feeds anyway, but was going to carry on with morning and night feeds, but not if it hurts like this! Anyone got the same problem/advice to avoid the vampire teeth?! Smile

When my daughter starting clamping down I calmly and gently took her off and ended the feed, and cuddled her but said to her that if she bit me, that was the end of the feed. I think I only did that two or three times and that was the end of biting for us.

I used to shriek like a banshee and yank him off. Don't do this, they think its funny, Grin!
I read on here that you can talk to them, give them lots of attention, stroke cheek/hair etc. really talk/engage with them, and they will stop.
I was sceptical but it worked a treat. Now he only does it very occasionally, usually when teething like mad. I'm afraid I revert back to my original reaction then too. Blush

I saw an infant feeding specialist recently and asked about this as she was trying to persuade me to carry on bf when I go back to work in January - she reckons if they bite pull them in closer as it "suffocates" them slightly and they have no choice but to open mouth and let go rather than pulling away suddenly. Mine doesn't have teeth yet though as only 1 month old so not tried yet!!

Yes, the top teeth leaving marks can hurt at first. The reason I read is because they have to get use to breastfeeding with teeth so it can take a while from them to adjust their latch. I found with each new tooth she adjusted much faster, but it did take a good few weeks the first time. However it does get better, her molars are coming in now and it hasn't effected her latch, it seems it's the front teeth that matter (which makes sense). I hope I've understood your post and I hope this brings you something to look forward to. I found that if it hurt when she latched on if I re-poistioned her it helped. If you make her tilt her head back further so that the back of her head is nearer her back, that can make it softer on the top teeth while she's adjusting her latch. Also, some people find it more comfortable lying down.

I found this website really helpful. If you scroll down toward the bottom and read about "teeth scraping or indentations" rather than biting.

Hope this helps.
