Hi, I'm new to this site, hope someone can share some wisdom. I'm going back to work full-time when my dd is 6m old. I want to carry on bfing as long and as much as possible. I've been using a medela hand pump and getting 2-3 oz a time only, I think I need an electric double pump, but which one? Has anyone tried the whisper wear pump? Thanks

Thanks Hunkermunker - I'm not sure how long the wedding is but it's on the same road as my Mum's house, so I will be nipping home to check on her + BF if needed in between wedding and reception. Also don't think I'll stay at the reception v long but will depend on how well she's doing when I nip home. I did consider taking her with but don't think babies are allowed as the bride pointedly asked "so will your mum be babysitting then?", also, it would be nice to get out as a grown up couple, and not just mum and dad for once, as it will be the 1st time since she was born.

Thanks so much for your reassurances - have definitely eased my mind a bit!

Also - once you are at work your breasts will be making xs milk that the baby is not drinking so you will get much more in a session than you do now as you are still bfeeding FT.

I could nenever express more than 3-4oz at a time maximum and that was my bext sessions - sometimes I got nothing at all. I tried various pumps - manually atc - none of it worked very well.

As others have said build a stockpile in the frezzer in the weeks before going to work so that you have some in hand. Honestly - on your fist 12 hr day you will need to express to get rid of the milk and will probably get loads of milk. The problem will be maintaining the daily expressing rate for very long if you are pumping only for 5 days a week - pumping is less efficient than a baby so make sure your dd feeds as much as possible when you are not at work.

It should work out fine - Good luck!!
