Help please - BF baby sleeping through at nine months but now I have too much milk

Baby sleeping through, though wonderful is causing me to wake up with painful, Dolly Parton-esque boobs because the night feed has dropped.

She is on 3 good meals a day and 4/5 bf.

It's been 7 nights so far and I am wondering if my milk supply will sort itself out? Or do I need to be doing something else?

I have another child which slept through at this age too but I don't remember this.
I'm scared I might get Mastitis.

Can anyone please advise me on this?

Have you tried hand expressing a little to relieve the pain? I had this too but it only lasted a few nights! Poor you. It should settle down soon.

I haven't actually. They are quite painful to touch. I thought they would adjust by themselves tbh!

I will give it a go but will that keep up the milk supply? Or will it just take off the edge?

My boobs takes ages to adapt every time she drops a feed (baby is 10 months now).

I hand express a wee bit (that won't affect your supply), take ibuprofen, have hot showers/baths... it's a bit miserable but it does pass. If I think I'm getting a blocked duct I try and get baby to have a bit more off that boob (and always feed off that one first) - this does just prolong the misery though.

Glad baby is sleeping well and hope you get to enjoy it soon!

Thanks!

I am doing a lot of feeding on the right (tender milk lumps there. Could this be blocked ducts?) and it's gradually easing but a bit sore. I feel i could be on the edge of Mastitis actually.
Seems sorest on the oreola. Will be vigilant and follow your good advice.

Hopefully I can avoid it!
