Switching 6 mth old from breast to formula - keeps throwing up?

Any advice please! Changing 6 month old Dd from breast to bottle. Tried bottle twice, both times threw up immediately having got milk in her mouth!

Gave the bottle a rest, thinking the fast flow might be too much for her and got a free flow cup. She had this, with water in at every meal for 4or 5 days, sipping from it fine. Changed to formula - immediately threw up before even swallowing any, just with it in her mouth! Confused

So, I'm thinking its the formula rather than the delivery method. It was SMA that my son had, but will try something else now.

I've heard of babies throwing up after having formula. But not as immediately as this! Anyone anything similar?

Try a different formula? Although they all have to contain basically the same ingredients they can apparently taste different. Your dd might prefer the taste of one over another. Maybe get one of the ready made cartons of each brand and see which she prefers?

Try a different brand? Also try the carton/pre-made stuff as it is easier on the tummy than the powder. Something to do with the lactose content because it is prepared at high heat ie like UHT milk.

Thank you, yes - will try other formulas, just depressing that she finds it so horrible!

Forgot to mention she actually has had before as top up down an ng tube as was a premie, so there's no allergy issues etc. just being difficult!!

Will keep trying ( head down, power through)

You could just keep breast feeding if you wanted, there's no rule to say that you must stop at 6 months.

It sounds like she's just spitting it out, not throwing up as you said. It's probably because she's used to breastmilk and in comparison formula tastes foul! Keep at it using a sippy cup.

Update: found a formula she doesn't instantly heave at (cow and gate 1) so feeling more positive! Thanks foe help, was feeling quite down about it. DS was difficult, for some reason thought DD would be better! X
