Hello everyone,

I will soon be away for work for an entire day. I will leave baby with grandma and ebm, but what do I do on that day? I have to express but would like to avoid throwing the milk away. I will wait for as long as possible before doing so, but should I use ice-packs to keep it cool until I arrive home and can put it in the fridge or do you have any suggestions?
I have the outbound train at 9.30am and will probably not be home before 9.30pm.

Thank you!!

No idea sorry but hopefully this will bump for you.

Work should provide somewhere for you to express and a fridge to store the milk.

Hum, yes, I do not think expressing will be a problem. I will ask regarding the fridge, that's a good idea, but then it will take me about three hours from that fridge to my own. Thanks Jilted, really appreciated!

I have a medela cool bag with sort of moulded ice pack which holds 4 bottles its like this:

I got it as part of a set knocked down in mother care it was only £15 :

Maybe look on ebay? Or as you have thought use an ice pack maybe with a sandwich (as in small) cooley bag to assist.

This is really helpful, thanks a lot, I did not know about it.

I had the same issue a couple of weeks ago - I got a small insulated bag intended for packed lunches and put 2 frozen ice packs in. I kept the ice blocks in the freezer at work all day, and my milk in the insulated bag inside the fridge - then popped the ice packs in with the milk before I set off for home.
I bought bags that fitted straight onto the pump too so did not have to mess about with sterlised bottles for the pump. Just put the bags straight in the freezer when I got home.

Freezer blocks here too and a dinky lunch bag Grin according to my HV bm is ok for 6 hours out of the fridge
