Did anyone get mood swings depression when they stopped breastfeeding?

I am currently weaning my ds who is 25 months and have gone semi cold turkey dropping to just one (possibly 2) feeds a day.

It is going well so far but I read about mothers getting mood swings/depression/pmt type symptoms (read on kellymom). I have never heard if this before and very surprised it wasn't mentioned in my breastfeeding class way back when I was pregnant, post natal depression has so much publicity so why was this not mentioned by anyone?

I think in hindsight I had mild pnd and I do get pmt as well, so I am concerned about mood changes now as I stop breastfeeding.

Anyway I was curious if anyone has experienced this and if yes, how old was your dc (just trying to work out if there is a pattern with babies' ages.

Hello. I've been breast feeding (with a 5 month break whilst pregnant) for the last 5 years . . . I am in the process of stopping the day time feeds with DD (29 months), and trying to avoid night time and early morning feeds. I am a bit of a wreck emotionally and trying to counter it by doing some exercise (which brings it's own problems as get stupidly stiff muscles as try and run too far too fast, and the only time I can fit it in is 5am!) It's all part of the natural run of things though as she is getting so grown up and feeding her is a bit of a nightmare as she's so big etc! It'll no doubt work itself out! Not looking forward to getting a menstrual cycle back though - only had 2 periods in the last 5 and a half years!!!! Not much help to you really, but I think the answer is yes, it's a bit emotional, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel x

I find the mood swings the hardest, very noticeable when dropping a feed. Also I find since periods have come back I get very irritable around that time of the month. I agree, I wish someone had warned of this when weaning....
