Tips for drying up milk supply and dropping toddler feeds

I want to stop breastfeeding my 25 month old ds.

Dp will be taking over bedtime routine from next week so hopefully that feed will stop then.

I know I need to work on distracting in the morning, but I'm so tired usually it is easier just to bf to get some more peace and quiet before the day starts. So dropping this feed with just require me to stop being so lazy. Any ideas on how to distract first thing in the morning would be appreciated.

That just leave the nap and dp will hopefully be able to do naps on the weekends and ds goes to nursery twice a week, so that leave me 4 days to try and distract before nap time. I think this will be the hardest. Any ideas?

I want to decrease my supply so was planning on bf from only one side each day. Would this work effectively? Any other ideas would be useful? Can I take decongestants? I have been meaning to ask a pharmacist this, but if you know that would be helpful.

i went cold turkey when i stopped feeding my 3 year old

savoy cabbage in my bra and sudafed taken daily at the max dose dried it up very quickly

am not medically qualified but i had see on kellymom that sudafed can reduce supply by up to 24%

i didn't express at all to avoid stimulating my supply

the key was distraction - lots of it; so no sitting down in the morning so she couldn't feed

she was a little older so she understood much more

just FYI cold turkey isn't recommended so perhaps reducing the time of each feed each day would be a good method

congratulations on feeding for 2 years Thanks

A special cup for the morning, naps in the buggy was how I did it - good luck!

We also went cold turkey at 16 months.

I wore extra layers and got out and about as early as we could for distraction.

I was definatly being used as a dummy/boredom reliever so it was a lot easier than I thought it would be Smile

I had forgotten to check kellymom. They suggest sage, so I think I will give that a go before sudafed/decongestants.

I also gained a lot of support during the time we decide to stop from here
