Medela bottles - just for breastmilk?

I am still BF my 7.5 month old but am gradually introducing the occasional bottle of formula leading up to me returning to work in October. So far I have been giving her formula in the Medela Calma bottles that came with my pump, but I have just gone online to purchase some more and the blurb on their website suggests you should only use these bottles for breastmilk. Anyone know why that might be? I know they are the closest thing to mimic breastfeeding but see no reason why you can't use them to give formula as well? They are expensive so maybe I will try a new kind of bottle anyway, any recommendations gratefully received!

Dunno!
Maybe they say that for marketing?

We use them for formula, works perfectly. Bf after avent is v painful, not so after medela.

Really? Think I will stick with Medela then - hadn't factored in that it may change the way she bf if I change her bottle - thanks!

I use the calma teats for occasional formula feeds too. No problems that I can think of.

Seems a strange thing for them to say on their blurb. Can see why they want to market the benefits re being best for breastfeeding babies, but as so many people give occasional formula feeds when bf, you think they would say that?! Anyway, I shall ignore them and follow the wisdom of MN. As you say, can't think of any reason why they wouldn't be suitable for formula too.

The way the teat works is totally different to all the other ones- baby has to suck & make a vacuum for milk to come.
Normal teat, baby sucks & milk pours out. So then the next bf baby has to really work hard. And you don't want bf refusal Hmm
