Please can someone advise on how to cope with this. Ds 7 months only has 1 tooth so far. When he is tired he will occasionally clamp his gums down causing a little pain. However we had our first occasion of this happening during the day, I put him on the floor. Is there a correct way to deal with this. I really enjoy bf and want it to continue

My DD has started. Pull them off and shout NO!!! and don't put him back on. So he learns too stop. My DD stopped after a couple of days. If not nipples sheilds in the short terms

Don't shout at your baby... just say "no biting" and un-latch, and try again. It isn't deliberate and 7 months is too young for any kind of "discipline". If you just repeatedly remove from the breast when he bites he will work out that to continue uninterrupted he needs to not bite. He's a bit too little to be putting him down on the floor for biting - he won't understand it. My ds is 13 months and I put him down if he nips me, but he understands a lot more now than at 7 months.

I think they're more incluned to do this when teething - and when not as hungry towards the end of a feed. It does pass!
The kellymom website has some good tips on what to do and how to position them as well, to prevent a toothy latch.
