Quick! Do I need to top up Ds after his first bottle?

Ds is 8 months and has just had his first bottle. He has always refused a bottle so I'm REALLY pleased as I'm about ready to switch from bf to ff.

He has just had about 120ml or so (240ml of water plus powder - there is 130ml left). It was a struggle to get him to have this much and he WON'T have any more. Do I need to top him up with a breast feed or is that enough?

In short do I accept that he is full or do I assume that he just doesn't want any more of the bottle?

He is on solids too and eats a good amount.

I'm sure he'll let you know if he's hungry!

If he seems happy I wouldn't top up unless you want to gradually move from bf to ff. I assume it will be quite an adjustment to suddenly knowing exactly how he drinks so unless he seems hungry I wouldn't worry too luch about it.

I'd think this is ok
I'm part way through the switch from bf to ff and during the day my ds has about 4oz at a time (3 *a day) plus morning and night bf
I got some ready made cartons to start so I could give him a bit and top it up if needed
He is nearly 9 months and also eats well

Ok, phew, thanks everyone.

I'll leave him be. He's having a snack now anyway so obviously ok!

4oz is what mine takes on some feeds so no,I probably wouldn't top up unless he still seems hungry but refusing the bottle :)

If you're switching to ff then I wouldn't top up with bf as that would prolong the process. Are you switching over one feed at a time? When I stopped bfing my DS1 (8 months) and DS2 (9 months) I was down to two small feeds a day and it was easy to stop as they weren't taking much milk a day so I could just stop dead without having to express to relieve engorgement.
