Is this normal?

dd woke at 3.30am, fed for 45 mins, then took another 45 mins to settle enough to put down, slept for an hour, woke again for another feed at 6, fed for an hour, slept for 15 mins then wanted feeding again. She has then pretty much fed since then apart from a half hour break where she wasn't happy but I had to give ds some breakfast and get myself dressed! She is 16 days old and still not regained birthweight. I can't help but think I am not producing enough milk because she is feeding for so long and so often. Just wondered if this is normal

Normal, she is having a growth spurt! Crack out the DVD box sets and settle on the sofa for the day.

Sounds normal based on my experience. It's hard work isn't it. Until 3mo or so they don't know the difference between night and day so hang in there. I think lots of babies take 2+ weeks to regain their birth weight, keep a look out for the wet nappies to reassure yourself it's going in!

It's so difficult with a 16 month old to look after too, I feel like he is being ignored poor thing. Was more worried that she wasn't getting enough tho. Dh off tomorrow and fri so just got to get through today on my own!

Definitely normal. I remember one night when DS was latched on for six hours non-stop (winces at the memory).
He didn't regain birth weight til he was four weeks old. But after a shaky start, we're still bfing now, eight months on.

Remember that by suckling so much she's stimulating milk production so, if the latch is right and you can hear swallowing, (and you're also getting plenty of wet and dirty nappies etc) she'll be getting what she needs.

I prescribe tea, cake and a Game of Thrones box set. Good luck, I hope tonight is better for you.

She is feeding so much to make you produce more breast milk, so in theory you don't have enough now, but she's feeding so you will make enough, does that make sense? Defiantly hunker down on the sofa with telly and plenty of water and snacks and enjoy the sit downGrin
