Cows milk rather than formula for night feeds

DS is now 1 so I want to get him onto cows milk. He doesn't drink much in the day anymore now anyway but at night he tends to have a bottle about 11pm and also often one about 4.
His diet is good and varied although he tends to eat the majority of two biggish meals rather than three (lunch is often just a tiny bit of sandwich and some fruit, for example.) Occassionally if he is very tired, for example, he won't have as much of his tea as usual and I am wondering if 'normal' milk would be sufficient, as I am not that sure it would (bottles are still part formula until we run out!)
Anyone else been in a similar situation and if so what did you do and why...?
Thank you!

The minimum recommended amount of full fat cows milk is 300ml. So, as long as he is getting that and food is offered he won't go hungry.

Have you looked into ways of getting him to have that milk in the day rather than at night?

At that age you could offer water for night feeds. We breastfed but around 9-10 months we started offering water for night feeds and within a couple of nights she stopped wanting feeds at night. She still would wake up for water but I'd just hand her a sippy cup and go back to sleep.

worldgonecrazy a friend who appeared horrified he was having any milk in the night suggested the water thing too. It didn't go down well so after a few days I went back to milk. Have tried twice since with no luck yet but will bear it in mind.

Thanks for your replies!

Think night waking at 12 months is pretty normal, no matter how you feed your baby. Just thought that if there was a way to get him to take those calories during the day it might help Smile
