Breast milk storage

I am absolutely spalled at the lack of support from major supermarkets regarding breast milk storage. Tesco used to do their own bags and after speaking to a very uninterested manager I found out they are no longer sticking them. The staff in Asda looked at me as if I was an alien and a chemist I went to said they had never been asked for such a thing!!

Boots own bags are crappy quality and outrageously expensive (while we are on the subject)

arlandria666 · 09/07/2013 01:55

homebargains sell them for about 2 quid compared to 8 quid from boots...they're not as thick as the boots ones but I have used them to freeze my milk and had no problems

I know nothing about breast milk storage but wanted to share something I had found (for another purpose) in case it's similar to what you are looking for... Bevi bags. Only available online from their website in America, reuseable, re sealable liquid storage bags. Can vouch for the quality and seal on them (as I used for smuggling beer in my bra into a concert)!

I use medela bottles. You can buy them on the website and they are suitable for freezing.
I've tried the home bargains bags but don't rate them much.

PassTheCremeEggs · 09/07/2013 07:40

Lansinoh make them and they're good quality.

SpottyTeacakes · 09/07/2013 07:42

Not a single shop in my local town sells them I had to go to the nearest city! Mothercare had their own brand ones and they seem ok. I prefer the lansinoh ones but again they're very expensive

arlandria666 · 09/07/2013 08:22

for me they do the job...store milk...freeze milk....I use them to transport milk...but each to their own I live on a budget so can't justify spending loads on a product when a cheaper version does the same job

Grin at beer in bra

Arlandria666, im with you, i use the homebargains ones too and have never had any problems...they have never split or anything and thats the only thing that i imagine could possibly go wrong (?). They are great value, 3 pound for 50 i think, and the nearest alternative are quite a lot more expensive.

SpottyTeacakes · 09/07/2013 12:31

We don't have home bargains round here, I've never heard of it?

izzybizzybuzzybees · 10/07/2013 19:24

If you use the milk on a regular basis then these are good
www.amazon.co.uk/Philips-AVENT-SCF612-10-Storage/dp/B0014KREVS
You get 20 in the box, 10 6oz and 10 8oz. They are very good but not ideal if you store loads!

Link fail!

I was surprised (and v pissed off) to discover how many supermarkets don't bother to stock breast pads, so not terribly surprised that some don't stock milk storage bags. Am still on the original box I bought from Boots about 6 months ago - what's meant to be wrong with them?

BuntyCollocks · 11/07/2013 16:08

My lansinoh ones keep bursting when they're thawing, so I lost a lot of milk. Moved on to the medela ones, which are pricier, but fab.

chickenfactory · 12/07/2013 21:14

Bugger just bought the boots ones haven't used them yet. I did think they were really expensive but I had gift vouchers.
Merkin everyone knows you use the screw top Capri suns to smuggle alcohol!!

Steffanoid · 12/07/2013 21:22

is it the kind of thing Wilkinson sell?
