Introducing a feeder cup

My 9 week old ebf baby has not successfully taken a bottle (expressed milk). How soon can you introduce the feeder cups (the ones with spouts with holes in). I have bought one and it says from 4 months. Is that right? Would you just offer it the same as a bottle? Only want to use occasionally so I can go out and leave little one with grandparents

Thanks

I wouldn't try and use a sippy cup with an under 4 month old. I would worry about it being safe, plus I can't see how they would take to it if they already are refusing a bottle.

Have you tried a variety of different teats/bottles? Also, have you tried not being present when someone else gives the bottle? Babies sometimes refuse a bottle when their mum is present but take it when they are not there. You could go out, but close enough to come home quickly if there is a problem.

Also, some babies will take ebm from an open cup if they won't take a bottle - could be worth trying.

Second the recommendation for an open cup from 4 months - there's a weird slanty one called a Doidy cup that my DS2 would drink EBM from happily after refusing all bottles. He'll now drink from a soft spouted sippy cup as well.

Thanks. I have not tried giving him him the bottle, Always my partner or mum. Have also tried not being there and that did not help either!

Have a few different bottles but did not want to buy too many incase he never took to them. Will hold off on the sippy cup till he is older
