Nicer clothes to breastfeed in.

Also posted in Chat.

I'm breastfeeding my baby and Clothes wise so far have been wearing a t-shirt with a vest underneath, top goes up and vest goes down and there we go! I'm still wearing maternity tops but haven't plucked up the courage to try on my normal tops in case they really don't fit! Baby is only 4 weeks though lets face it I won't lose this wait for ages yet!

I have a nice lunch to go to in a couple of weeks and need a nice outfit-but I also need to be able to breastfeed in it. I have nothing-help! I can't spen too much either! Help!

What about a dress, then take a scarf to pop on to cover top of boob when feeding?

I've worn wrap dresses and button front dresses with a strappy top underneath - dress open, pull top up, hey presto.
I've also got nursing bras from Debenhams that don't leave you completely uncovered when you pull the cup down, there's a circle of fabric behind the cup which goes around the breast with a hole in the middle (does that make sense?) which has made me feel much less exposed.
A scarf or a muslin to drape over works well too, especially whilst your LO is still so little (does NOT work so well with 14m DS anymore!)

How about a nice top with a smart pair of trousers? I can thoroughly recommend Oasis and Dorothy Perkins for pretty, loose blouses that you can just wear a vest/cami underneath for privacy while feeding. I just bought a size up to accommodate my larger boobs and the floaty-style tops are usually generously cut anyway.

It took me weeks to figure out the top+vest underneath combo so well done! Treat yourself to a nice top and new skirt?

Or try crossover or buttoned tops, make sure you check in the fitting room how easy it is to get a boob out/how exposed you feel! I'm having trouble finding nice outfits too because I'm short so drifty tops make me look very big and stocky when I'm not!

Wrap dresses work really well. Worn with a scarf you can protect the top of your chest while you whip boob out of dress. I always feel nicer in a dress than trousers

Mama Feels Good make lovely t-shirts (my fave is the one with an owl). Worn with a sparkly scarf and some good jeans it works really well. I still wear mine even though I stopped BF 6 months ago!

Just seen more replies, thanks.

I think I have a solution, a wrap over tunic top that I had in my wardrobe all along! with leggings, I'd like to put a vest under still as my baby doesn't seem to like to be under my lovely big muslin or a scarf! helpful! Problem is a vest is a bit long to drag out, I feel like I need a boob tube! Funnily enough I haven't had on in a long while! Would it be ridiculous to cut the bottom off a primark vest top?

Next problem is not letting baby come off just after latching on so milk doesn't squirt and dribble all over me and everyone else! So far when that happens it goes on my best underneath but in this occasion it'll go on the top over the top...does that make sense? Any top tips? All needs to be very subtle! Thanks!
