All of these bottles seen to leak when I shake them after making the bottle up - even if I don't go over the line as instructed on the side. Any ideas? They are so popular I can't be the only one this is happening to x

I found the bottles leaked if they were hot out of the steriliser when I made them up, it was like the plastic contracted or something. Doesn't happen when I sterilise and then let them cool.

I think it happens if you do them up too tight when the milk is still hot. Just checking - are you putting the little disc in before you shake it up?

I bought some cheap bottles to mix in and pour into the Dr Brown's ones to avoid this. It's a faff but they are leaky because of the valve thingies (technical name) and the discs get stuck all the time.

I make up ours by using another bottle to measure the water out of the kettle: scoop powder into bottle you plan to use, measure water into second bottle then pour onto powder and quickly swirl, vigorously. You can add the water in two stages, swirling after the first, if the bottle would otherwise be too full to swirl properly. It happens I have some other bottles around with printed lines I use for the water which are easier to see than the embossed lines on the Dr Browns.

Also, if I knock a full, hot Dr B bottle sometimes the milk shoots (or creeps) up the blue valve and leaks out of the top. This can be stopped by loosening the white collar slightly then re-tightening.
