4wk ds has a poor latch, under a nct breastfeeding councillor about that, but now I have mastitis.
Seeing doctor later today for ABs

But what else can I do?

Feed feed feed. Then feed again.

It's really horrible - I had blocked ducts from my toddler elbowing/kicking me accidentally whilst engorged from feeding DS, & then mastitis when I couldn't get one cleared. It's very nasty. Glad you're seeing the Dr. Good luck.

Oh, & for a heat pack to get the milk flowing, a disposable nappy filled with hot water, emptied, then the outside put against your boob, works wonders.

Ds is happy to feed all day. But he's not emptying them, although with the oversupply that I already have it would be impossible for him to empty them.

Strangely it doesn't hurt yet. But have the flu-y symptoms.

So heat on the blocked area. Will give that a try.

Should I express as well? I'm going to have to buy a pump aren't I? I can't unblock this one by hand expressing

Yes expressing will help. But only pump enough to relive the pain. If you pump as but as you can then you will stimulate your milk supply more which can make it worse

Sorry, I messed up that link before. Hopefully you worked it out, but in case not, here it is again:

Hope you're feeling better soon and that the GP was helpful.

Thankyou red I did figure out your link.
Dr was useful, have ABs, and she suggested some different feeding positions to help.

mrsmartin I don't have the pain, so not sure if I should express or not. I have over supply anyway, so don't really want to make it any worse by stimulating more milk production.

I found that feeding on the blocked boob first every time & expressing on the other boob worked, especially as DS was often a one-boob-a-feed baby.
