So exhausted 3 week growth spurt

I think my DS is having the 3 week growth spurt? He is 3 weeks and 2 days, and last night just constantly wanted feeding for hours, I'm exhausted! My DH used the last of my expressed milk this morning to just give me an hours sleep, but I am dreading tonight.

Not only that but for some reason he has decided to go from a perfectly good pain free latch, to just sucking the nipple and it is so painful!

Please tell me this wont last long!

I know your pain. I know how hard it is and how you feel like you're feeding constantly. It should only last 2-3 days. Just sleep when you can and try nd have drinks and nibbles to hand so that you are looking after yourself.

Keep it up. You are doing the best thing for your child and it does get easier

It won't last long it won't last long.

Get comfy on the sofa, snacks drinks everything within reach, box sets on, phone, Kindle etc

You can always ask DP to rock him or drive him to sleep for a bit if you desperately need a break - he will be ok

Good luck!!!

Thank you

My nipples are so bruised Hmm its like he's about to drop off to sleep, realises, and forces himself awake again! Confused

I hope this hurries up and passes I can't keep on like this

I felt like that! Male sure you're using plenty of nipple cream and if the latch is poor, pull him off and try again. Leaving it will only make the soreness worse. It doesn't last forever!

Does he arch his back when he fusses at all? Just wondering if it might be silent reflux?

No he doesn't arch his back unless he is trying to get to what he thinks is my nipple (and is usually my hand).

Im going to a breast feeding support group this morning so hopefully they will show me what I'm doing wrong and get it sorted Smile
