lemsip whilst breastfeeding

I'm exclusively breastfeeding my 4 mo. I am starting a rotten cold. My DM has found some lemsip. The leaflet says not to drink without asking a doctor - but I just want to drink the stuff and go to sleep.

Can I assume my baby won't grow two heads or keel over if I just drink the damn stuff.

One of the active ingredients drys up snot unfortunately it can also diminish milk supply. I wouldn't risk it and just take paracetamol

There is a lemsip you can take. I remember going to ask the pharmacist about decongestant and he said lemsip regular is a definite no no but there is one that is just paracetamol and lemon. If it isn't that one, then no I'm afraid you probably shouldn't have it. It's the other ingredient which dries up the secretions which you need to avoid.

You can, however, have paracetamol, ibuprofen, warm lemon, steam, a decongestant like olbas or vicks and a sleep. All would do the same as lemsip, especially if you combine them

Oh bollocks.
Ok, I've tipped it down the sink.

Yeah, you can use the "just paracetamol and lemon" lemsip but the one with decongestant can dent your supply. (Oddly, here in Ireland the "lemsip regular" is the one without decongestant)

Seconding all the Monkey's recommendations for other remedies, feel better soon.

Well I certainly don't want a hungry and frustrated baby waking me during the night.

So thank you for the warning.
