Reusable breast pads

eltsihT · 07/06/2013 18:40

Ok so breast feeding again, with ds2 2 weeks old and its going so much better than last time! He is gaining weight and I actually have to change my breast pads (sorry for the gloating but I had an awful time with ds1 and had to combination feed)

Anyway disposable breast pads are needing changed lots and as its so warm they have given me sweat rash...

Any recommendations for reusable breast pads would be appreciated as I am thinking of trying them .

Thanks in advance.

Hey, I brought some washable ones from boots and they are fab :) Smile

Little lamb do some bamboo ones which I find more absorbent than the mothercare cotton ones I have. Of the disposable ones I think the johnsons ones are nicest (and I have sampled most brands!!)- they're not too plasticky.

Made the switch from lasinoh (sp?)disposables to little lamb reusables yesterday. I love them - so much comfier and cooler in this weather. A little bit of lint is coming off them, but think washing should fix that.

I used cotton ones last time (Lansinoh maybe?) but after a few washes the edging became really stiff and chafed. I got Little Lamb bamboo ones this time and the fleecy material feels really nice and soft.

My friend recommended the washable ones from Boots, so I've bought some of those. Not had occasion to use them yet though!

I leak for England - did with DD, do with DS & he's nearly 7mo. I found the reusables I had with DD (Boots & Mothercare, 3yrs ago) useless - I had to use 2 at a time & change every feed, so as often as the disposables.

However, I love Little Lambs. They are a bit pricey (compared to Boots iirc), but I can wear them all day, they don't leak, they're lovely & soft, & they come in different sizes & colours. Brilliant.

The three layer ones from Wee Notions. Minky next to your skin is lovely :)

Little Lambs are half price!

Second the Boots ones. Come in a little wash bag too. I found it took a few washes for them to soften at the edges as when they were brand new you could see a small rim/circle in some tops but that was probably my bra/top combo. They are v good.

Congrats in your LO :)

Or even...
Little Lambs half price!

Cravingdairy · 08/06/2013 20:41

I vote Boots!

BranchingOut · 08/06/2013 20:44

Motherease from Totnes nappy co.

I have recommended these so many times they should be sending me a letter or something...

LikeCandy · 08/06/2013 21:54

Another vote for little lambs!

Hi! Congrats on needing breast pads - I know that feeling!!
I couldn't wear disposables too - awful itching & red marks. Euch.
I bought the lovely little lamb ones from the nappy lady. (There are reviews on the site too)
I have the black and cream ones in the large & smaller size. I prefer the larger ones though.
If they start to curl at the edges a steam iron sorts them out!!

Had a thought - if you leak a lot whilst feeding (rather than between times), have you tried breast shells?

I used them a lot in the first few wks when I was around the house a fair bit. I could get at least an oz, often 2, per breast from leakage per feed. I would then put it straight in a freezer bag & into the freezer. The small amounts freeze & defrost quickly, plus it builds up a little stash of bm to use in bottles as & when.

Obviously no good all day, every day, but could be an option?

Thanks everyone, I have ordered some little lamb ones, thanks all for the advice and the price tips!
