If I go away for a week at 15 months is that the end?

DS currently 9 months so might seem a bit premature but will have to book travel arrangements soonish for work trip.

Not sure how long I can afford to be away and not have him wean himself off the boob. It'd be better workwise if I could stay at least 4 days, possibly the whole week, but was hoping to make it till 2 years of possible.

Any tips/advice?

My son was nearer 2 when I was away for a week so I'd say more likely to wean, but he didn't. He was fine while I was away, I didn't leave any EBM for him. I hand expressed just to relieve my fullness.
It takes a while for milk to dry up so you should easily be able to resume on your return. You might need to retire to your bed for the w/e to catch up and boost your supply :-)

The emotional side of being away from your nursling will be harder than the physical I should think.

At 15 months you'll probably need to express more than I did so you don't risk getting too engorged and potential mastitis.

I went away for five days for work when DS1 was about 2 and still having morning and evening feeds - he pretty much just resumed straight away when I came back and didn't wean for another 6 months or so when I was pregnant with DS2. I did bring a pump with me and pumped twice a day while I was away for comfort and to keep supply up, but to be honest your supply is pretty robust past a year.

I can't comment on the weaning aspect but I recently had to stop for 2 weeks so I could take some medication and my supply was fine (DS 7mo)

That's reassuring to hear, bonkers & leedy. Hmm, sounds like I should plan on packing the pump tho! (At least if I'm just pumping to relieve engorgement then I don't have to faff about sterilising it.

TallGiraffe - helpful to hear supply was fine for you even after two weeks.

Oh and he is still nursing now at just gone 4! I am going away for a week again at the end of this month so that might be the end. He feeds in the morning every second or third day so it's all be very natural.
I love and feel proud that I have been able to work and continue to BF my sons. Other people can do everything else when it comes to childcare, but only I can BF and it's been the most wonderful way to re-connect after a days work.

My boobs got bigger and bigger when I went away - not sure what my colleagues thought about that! This time I don't think I'll have any problem at all.
