Bf, routine & weaning

ebf dd2 is ebf. Now 22 weeks and we're starting to wean. Nothing major yet, just trying a few bits every now & again. Have demand fed so there is absolutey no pattern to her feeds. Her naps are completely random too (roughly every couple of hours but vary in length). So no structure to our day really!

As we approach 'proper' weaning, should I try to be more routine in her feeds? I honesty can't remember what we dd first time round. She won't take a bottle so also trying to get her used to sippy cup.

Appreciate any tips from ebf-er's approaching weaning! Ta!

The current advice is to offer milk roughly an hour before offering solids until they are one but this is just to stop them dropping milk feeds.

I'd just carry on as you are and offer food when you eat. If you decide on blw you can just give what you and dc1 are having from 6 months with the usual exceptions of things like whole nuts and honey.

Then if you think she is dropping feeds you can reassess and start planning your feeds a bit more so that she gets them before the food.

As for the cup, I gave mine an open cup of milk while they were in the bath so that any spills didnt matter. Bfirst few cups went in but then they got e hang of it. Bi just gave them a cup of full fat cows milk as BM was still their main source of food.

I ebf dd and like u had no structure to the day. I completely winged it. Some people said to offer milk an he before solids. But when he feeds we're all over the place that was impossible. We did finger foods too. So I just bf when she asked ad whenever I had breakfast/dinner/tea just have her some. I tried not to over think it and she started to bf less n eat a bit more solids naturally. I know that isn't very helpful but it was just a case of still feed on demand and throw in a few solids when I ate

As for the cup we gave dd the tommee tippee first cups with the flip up spout. Think we were lucky in that dd is very food/drink orientated and she got it very quickly. We just had it out at solid food times n if she had some great and if not she topped up with bm
