I would like a balloon, little flag or at last a pat on the back

After a rocky start to breastfeeding, and only managing to latch and feed for 8 weeks, we have made it to week 28 by expressing. Aside from a couple of formula top ups in hospital, EBF!

I just wanted to say something as let's face it, no one in real life is going to give a monkeys Grin

It has been bloomin' hard work!! Between expressing, heart wrenching colic and silent reflux and the still very fragmented sleep at night, I don't think I'll be having another child!

As you were Smile

Go you!! Smile

AmandaCooper · 25/05/2013 19:55

Wow that's amazing! Well done!

HerrenaHarridan · 25/05/2013 19:55

Well done!

Expressing is hard, I've never done anything so exhausting while sitting on my arse before, and no one believes you when you say how draining it is because surely you were just sat there!?!

A balloon? A flag? Bollocks to that, I'm sending you a virtual bottle of champagne Grin Well done, OP, you have worked really hard and what an achievement- you should be really proud of yourself :)

Sleepybunny · 26/05/2013 09:25

Oh my t-shirts, chocolates, medals, certificates and champagne!

I can't imagine the journey you have been through. You deserve a ticker tape parade!

Goldrill · 26/05/2013 20:28

I found BF an absolute piece of cake with no hassle and was still very slightly proud of making it to six months. I cannot imagine having to do the whole thing by expressing and I think you're extremely cool for having done it. Weekend in Paris, I say.

sharond101 · 26/05/2013 22:29

Sleepybunny i commend you. I too did the expressing and managed to 34 weeks before winding down and it's no easy task. It takes total dedication and self sacrifice as you have no time to yourself except that when you are chained to the pump. It's so worth it when you see your LO though don't you think?

amazingface · 26/05/2013 23:34

Holy shit! Go book yourself a holiday in a spa or something. Absolutely no way I could have done what you did, OP Flowers and congrats.

Snazzywaitingforsummer · 26/05/2013 23:35

Well done! Just take it day by day now.

Trying2bMindful · 27/05/2013 09:20

Well done. Flags, marching bands & balloons from me. Hats off to you as that is a serious amount of work!

LargeLatte · 27/05/2013 09:27

Well done. I managed to express about 8 bottles worth between 2 babies, so I d'off my hat to you. That is some serious hard, but worthwhile, work you have put in there.

And all babies are different - next one might feed like a dream.

Buy yourself some flowers and a nice cake - you seriously deserve them.

Strikeuptheband · 27/05/2013 09:31

Well done!!! I had to do similar with DS and then DD. It is very hard work I know, but worth it x

CareerGirl01 · 27/05/2013 20:31

Well done x

Sleepybunny · 28/05/2013 17:21

sharond strikeuptheband that's awesome! It's fab to hear other people have bf the crazy way too! My other mummy friends think I'm a bit mental, so I try to avoid too many feeding questions!

largelatte I so hope to god that if we have another one that he/she feeds more easily. I just couldn't go through that again, especially with an older child to entertain too! It just wouldn't be fair.
