12 week old seems hungry but fusses and screams at the breast

DS is 12 weeks old and was a really happy little boy for the first 10 weeks. He has become quite unsettled recently and doesn't like being put down.

After being fed from one side I wind him, usually getting a big burp, on offer the other side. He still seems hungry and chews his hands, shaking his head side to side, but when I offer the second breast he screams and arches his back. He will then only settle when I give his dummy.

Any idea what could be causing this? He is not putting on weight as quickly as he was and as I said, still seems hungry after feeding from one side.

It's awful seeing him so upset and because he's so unsettled now, I don't get to spend as much time with DD who is only 2.5.

Has anyone else experienced this and if so, what worked for you?

I had this problem to the extent he started refusing the breast. Every fees was a wrestling match. Unfortunately ended up having to ff.

I thought it was speed,flow so maybe the same for you. Do you need to switch breasts try just one. Try breast compressions, drinking lots of water and fenegeek to improve flow,speed.

At the moment the dummy is the only thing that stops him crying after a feed so I'm finding it hard to get rid of.

His poo has been quite green over the past few days. Is this a sign that he's not getting enough hind milk?

Thanks for the advice. Hopefully things will improve soon, its not nice seeing my happy little boy so distressed during feeds.

Have you tried a differenct position when you offer the other side? Could be he doesn't like lying on that ear/in that way. Try rugby hold or lying down.

I'll give it a try. I've only ever fed him in a standard nursing position.
