Help - Chickenpox in mouth means can't take bottle

Help please - Ds is nearly 8 months and has a bad case of chickenpox - today they have erupted on the roof of his mouth and on his tongue which means he can't drink from his bottle - usually has 4 x 6oz a day but has only had about 8oz all day - he now just gets hysterical when the bottle gets anywhere near his mouth - it must be soooo painful. Any suggestions how to sooth the pain or alternatives for getting some fluids into him?

thanks sugarfree - tried spoon feed - v.messy but added a bit of baby porridge to thicken it up slightly and he took 3-4 oz - no where near as much as usual but enough to stop me panicking!

Would he manage an icelolly or something?
Hope he feels better soon.

I think that you have to bear in mind that if he has chickenpox his appetite might be affected anyway. But I would carry on with what you are doing, spoonfeeding him weak porridge, and maybe also water (less messy but will ensure his fluid intake is OK). My DD had cp at 5 months.
