I am probably being silly but it was very scary as he just projectile vomited twice all over the place :( poor little thing. I know I am probably being a bit PFB...

He is bottle fed and I am so worried it is due to a silly mix up this afternoon between a sterilised and an unsterilised bottle. If so have I done real harm?

Other explanation is that he had a very long car journey this afternoon and may be unsettled? Jolted around and stored up a bug gas bubble? He is a very windy baby in general.

He is not interested in another bottle now though so I am very worried it is the unsterilised bottle thing (fwiw I really don't think we mixed up the bottles but am getting paranoid).

Either way I don't know what to do and am getting very worried and stressed , I am by myself tonight and feel panicky.

Any advice at all?

Just ring them. It'll be fine. He'll be fine. And no you aren't.

Another option would be to ring the hospital ward. You can speak to a midwife for reassurance. In my opinion, they're much better at tiny babies than the ooh service.

If it were me, I'd try baby with another bottle in an hour or so but wouldn't be overly worried. My ds was so sick on me once I had to change my underwear! He was fine. As long as baby hasn't got a temperature try to get some rest, it's obviously been a busy day for you all.

Oh, yea, mouse has a point - as he's under 4 weeks you can still call the midwives.

Thanks for advice re midwives, they said to try another feed and monitor. He has just enthusiastically fed, got thru a whole bottle though I tried to keep it slow... No temperature, he seems normal and content albeit windy. Question is how long do I leave it before putting him down to sleep, assuming no vomit immediately? I am worried too soon on his back may either cuse vomit if there is a problem or make him choke if he does vomit. Shall I leave it thirty mins? An hour? What would you do?!?

I should add btw that he did have a bath v soon after the feed that he then vomited up. Normally we wait an hour or so after feeding before bath... Could the bath have made the feed come back up so spectacularly earlier??

Hope things are better now, emerald....it's horrible when you are worried in the middle of the night.
FWIW, the bath probably did contribute to the vomit.
Chances are, everything is fine.
