Formula made incorrectly

Hi,

Today my friend had my 6 month old for a few hours. I had put 8 scoops of formula in 2 pots and told her that both pots needed to be used with 8oz of water. When we picked him up, she said that he had had 2 screaming fits during his feed and would only take 2oz at a time, she stopped at 4oz.

Upon getting home, I have discovered that she only used one pot of powder so 4 scoops to 8oz of water!

What does this mean? Is it going to cause any problems?

TIA.

Shouldn't do as he's only had 4 oz.
Worst case could cause constipation. Try and give him some plain water - should help ease things through a bit.

Is he having solids yet?
it's unlikely to cause any more issues than the introduction of solids does.

Er, no. It won't cause problems.

It just means he hasn't had as much milk powder as usual so might be a bit more hungry, I guess.

The problem only really arises if you routinely give too much water to powder or too much powder to water.

He has had twice the water to formula than he should have. Won't cause any problems, may have looser stools with the extra water but more likely to be a bit hungry.

Sorry - miss read that as double powder/ half water.
Yy to what they said!

As a one off it probably won't be an issue.

Done long term it can lead to malnourishment as the baby is getting filled up with water and no nutrients, but for a one off it won't have done him any harm at all. He was probably crying as it tasted funny!

I am giving him solids too.

Thank you for all of your advice!
