i tried bf for 10 days and absolutely hate it. Am changing to bottles now but what do i do about my milk - do i need to express to get rid of it? Was thinking of expressing some each day then at least baby can have the benefif of breast milk for a bit longer. Any advice anyone?

You could express and give to baby in a bottle, but if you're going to have the energy to do that you may as well continue breatsfeeding! would be at lot easier for you.

If you want to stop your milk completely, i think you will have to express the smallest amount only when you feel really engorged a) to stop the pain for you and b) to stop you getting mastitis or anything. Over the days your supply should die down (not sure how long it will take though as you're probably producing a lot at the mo).

The early days of b/feeding are often really hard. What has made you stop?

Sorry - just wanted to add.

What are you 'hating' about it? Only because, at 10 days its all still new and weird. After another couple of weeks you'll be amazed at the difference - less engorgement, leaking, pain when babies feeding etc. You'll be more experienced at feeding descretely in public etc. And the greatest benefit i found was - no bottles to have to sterelise, make up and lug around with me!

Just thought i should let you know that it does get easier if you feel like persevering.

Good luck whatever you choose x

The best way to do it is to drop one breastfeed at a time and replace it with a bottle. I'm not sure how long you should leave between dropping feeds though.
