Latch problems post tongue tie division

After 4 months of muddling through BFing DD1 I have had her posterior TT divided - although her latch looked fine my nipples were coming out creased and blanched and feeds were ridiculously long (1 hour plus). Things seemed mildly more comfortable for a couple of days although feeds were the same length, however 8 days on it seems to have gone backwards, it's now more uncomfortable than before. I wasn't given any exercises to do and wasn't told not to use a dummy for a while either - looking in her mouth it looks the same as it did before so thinking that it has reattached. At 8 days is it too late to try and stretch it out?

I would go back and get it reassessed and possibly recut. They can reattach as scar tissue forms during the healing process. I had this happen three times and each time there was some relief post the cut which then got worse again within a week..

Thanks for your reply, I'm considering not doing it as the jaunt to the hospital (let alone the GP visits to get re referred) is such a faff (I also have twin toddlers). I'll see how long can muddle through for. X

Would love to know where the extraneous kiss at the end of that message came from. Ruddy predictive text!

You shouldn't need to be re-referred. My DD had a TT which was cut, 7 weeks later I still wasn't very happy thinking it had reattached, I rang and spoke to the 'surgeons' secretary and passed on the details she spoke to surgeon and then arranged for another appointment the very next week. You could try ringing them and explains the situation. The can and do grow back or occasionally there is a residual tie that only becomes apparent once the initial cut has been made (as in my DDs case)
