After tongue tie?

After many weeks of battling to feed my DD2 who is now 16 weeks she has finally been diagnosed with a sub mucosal tongue tie, we have an appointment on Friday to get it snipped.
Can anyone let me tell me what to expect following this procedure? I understand that it will take a while to get breast feeding on track and we have a lot to relearn with regards to getting a good latch. Will this take a long time?
What are your experiences?

Dd had a posterior tt. She had it snipped at about 2/3 weeks. It took her till about 3 months before she started useing her tongue efficiently. However I have heard a lot of stories of babies improving straight away. Hopefully someone will come on to say that!

we had DD's tie snipped at about 15 weeks, nothing changed immediately, it took 2 weeks to see a clear improvement and after 3 weeks things were SO much better. it's now been about 6 weeks and feeds are pretty easy. good luck.

we didn't do any exercises/relearning, but we did see a cranial osteopath which I think helped a lot.

Had dd sub mucosal Ptt snipped at 11 days, and then lasered 2 weeks ago as the original revision wasn't deep enough and there had been reattachment.

With the laser revision, we should have read the aftercare leaflet - dd SCREAMED exactly 3 hours after it was done, and didn't stop for 3 hours. She wouldn't latch, suck a finger or a dummy. She calmed after some
Calpol and 4oz of expressed whilst I then expressed. She then latched fine.

Just something to know in case you're having the laser revision. If not, don't worry. It didn't happen with any of the scissor revisions my DS or dd had (4 between the and three were DS!)

2 weeks in and we're now seeing improvement in feed times, pain, latching etc. it is not an instant silver bullet.

Also, I am a member of a tongue tie group on Facebook, and they advocate stretches and massages on the revision site. This revision hasn't reattached - whether that's due to the laser or the massage etc I don't know, but I would recommend doing them, although its not pleasant.

Finally, as someone else has mentioned, get some cranial sacral therapy or cranial oesteopathy for baby up to 48 hours before and after, and keep having some sessions until issues are resolved. It's amazing what tensions tongue ties cause in little heads and jaws. Dd has/had tensions all the way down into her chest, bless her.

DD had hers snipped at about 10 weeks I think - maybe longer - it was all a blur. I know we got the letter telling us we had an appointment to get it done at a hospital 30 miles away. The appointment was 3 hours after the letter arrived.

Anyway, she was BF'ing within 10 minutes and was much improved. I guess the answer is 'it depends'.

We have has my LOs revised a couple of times its very quick and easy and she found it more distressing ebbing held down and she fed straight away.

It took a good 2 weeks for feeding to be pain free, if its not go back as scar tissue can cause problems.

I also found cranial osteopathy very useful and improved her tongue function dramatically.

My LO was nearly six months when finally cut so had a lot more to unlearn.

A whole range of experiences then!
I will definitely have a look at the info on Facebook and have a think about the cranial oesteopathy. I was thinking about giving this a try anyway as DD is so tense during feeds, her whole body is ridged like a ruler.
Thank you so much to everyone for sharing.

My LO was very tense and barely moved her neck or opened her mouth. I think the tongue restriction caused everything to be very tight.
