Reverse cycling and weaning

I think my 7 month old DS is reverse cycling - had 2 v bad nights where he is up loads to feed.

He has solids at 945 and 5 ish and eats well but looking back at the past week he has dropped breast feeds which he now seems to be putting back in over night. I've looked at Kelly Mom but can't see and info re reverse cycling and weaning specifically. How do I get him back on track? I can't have too many more nights where I'm up feeding him every 90 mins!

Not really sure about reverse cycling. But could he be teething ?? Looking for sucky comfort in the night as a result?

I would have said that if it is reverse cycling you would need to offer boob lots during day, and make the day a bit boring so that he isn't too distracted.

Do you offer boob before food or after?

OrchidFlakes · 12/03/2013 06:45

I usually offer boob an hour before solids... I don't think he's teethibg as he seems ok - no drool, grumpiness, red gums etc. I've fed him 6 times tonight from 11 - 630, he hasn't been like this for ages!

Hey orchid flakes I have the same problem and I'm getting worried . DD also 7 months is hardly touching breast milk in the day but feeds at night but I'm not sure how often she feeds at night as we co-sleep and I hardly wake when she does feed , but it's only on one side where as before she took both? I think my supply is dwindling horribly too , but the thing is she doesn't eat much (blw ) so just bits of finger food , it's making my life extremely hard and I'm anxious all the time when she doesn't feed :(

Ditto to all the above

Dd is just 8 months

At the end of my rope

This morning I caved and did her a bottle Sad

My 6 month old is doing this.

I've brought her into my bed and now we just lie together and I can feed her without fully waking up.

Simples.

I have the same situation with my 7 month old. I am due to go back to work in 6 weeks so am thinking of stopping bf altogether so even if night feeds continue my dh can help out. Knackered.

I have found laying down in bed feeding quietly sometimes helps .

Lonelybunny · 12/03/2013 11:54

During the day that is

flipflopson5thavenue · 12/03/2013 12:56

my 7.5 DS doing the same. Up several times a night to feed, then being awake and wanting to play, crying if I leave him. Too busy and distracted to feed during the day (him, not me!) even if I offer him boob as often as always. We're doing blw so he's not taking that many solids, but we have just moved home, put him in his own room, and I think he might be teething as he's comfort sucking soooooooooo much.

I think this period 6/7 months is a massive massive development period which can affect their sleep. Combined with teething, solids etc I think it can be a challenging period. I have certainly found the last 6 weeks harder than the previous 6 months!

I am ready to give up its rather stressful as I'm worried she isn't having enough . It seems the 7 mo mark is a difficult one
