Feels like biting throughout feed but I don't think it is - 8 month old.

Does it sound like thrush? DS does have new teeth but I don't think he's biting. Feels more like a tight, pulling sensation and is currently only on one side. I had severe ductal thrush several times when BFing DD and this is nothing like the pain of that.

I'm taking antibiotics for mastitis, which was in the other breast to this pain. He's not feeding much off the mastitis side (always the least favoured anyway). He is also on antibiotics for a chest and throat infection and seems to have thrush in his nappy area (seen by GP - treating with canestan).

I do not have access to any good local RL help, unfortunately.

You could try changing your feeding position? I had this and started feeding rugby ball position plus lying down at night. Really helped. I also found for some strange reason it hurt more if I was cold (bf counsellor recommended a woolly scarf in my bra!) and just before each period.
HTH.

I used to find that when DS had new teeth it would feel a bit sore and his latch would feel different, I think it's because he was getting used to the new teeth and after a few days it would go back to normal.

domestic that sounds like you maybe have raynauds or vasospasms if it's worse in the cold?

I have this problem quite frequently including these last few days. DS's latch is so painful especially on one side. It feels like he's clamping down with his teeth throughout the feed and the pain builds up until it's unbearable and I need to take him off. Sometimes I can see teeth marks all around my nipple Sad. I don't knew why he does it and maybe Scrivette is right, it happens when they have new teeth
I feel your pain!

I've discovered puncture marks today, so if is from biting. The pain does depend on positioning too, I think - i.e. whether he's got his teeth on top of the bite holes or not!

I fed him today on a lovely beanbag. Sort of banana shaped I suppose. We were able to get really comfy. The arms of my feeding chair are in he way now really, and limit our choice of positions. I might look for one to buy.
