Breast pump hire

We have had lots of issues with breastfeeding. My own bloody minded ness is what has kept me going through 7.5 months of feeding with a ds with a posterior tongue tie and lip tie.

The pain is now bearable but now as weaning gets underway and I start to consider formula during the day when I go back to work, we discover ds has a milk allergy.

He has all his feeds from the breast at the moment but I express with a small pump for his morning porridge, but can only get about 2 oz. it's also slowly giving up the ghost!

I would love to express more so I can leave him in the day when I go back to work, so I am looking into hiring a proper electric pump.

Please can anyone recommend a good one or let me know where I could hire a pump from.

Thanks in advance.

Medela symphony can be hired direct from medela www.medela.com/UK/en/breastfeeding/products/pumping/symphony-rental.html

I hired one for 6 months when ds was born with TT and couldn't latch. Double pumps saves time. Either buy a expressing bra or get an old/cheap one and cut holes for the funnels to fit through so you can have your hands free to MN I could pump 300ml in 10 minutes and my peak of production!

If you are hiring rather than buying please try and find out whether they are open or closed systems.

I bought an ameda lactaline 2nd hand. It's a closed system and worked great for me.

Mothercare hire them, but it's not particularly cheap. A lot of branches of NCT do too, have you tried them?

Thanks! I'll try the nct. What's the difference between an open and closed system?

An open system my allow milk to pass through the suction tube into the mechanical workings of the pump that are difficult to clean. The symphony is a closed system as far as I can remember. They were used in hospital so I'd imagine they would be from the multiple users/hygiene factor.

My pump was £45 per month direct from medela, that included delivery and collection by courier. The NCT round here were almost double that.

Think ameda also hire their pumps directly too.
