2 week old - no longer feeding properly?

DD2 is 2 and a half weeks old. Until about 3 days agoshe was feeding really, really well, 20 mins on each side every 3 hours, putting on weight.

Now she will only go about 10 mind on each side and pulls away / struggles / splutters and cries. I'm worried that she might not be getting enough hind milk and my breasts are constantly rock solid, it doesn't feel like she's emptying them properly. She's also feedingmore frequently, barely going for two hours between feeds.

Is it possible that she's just feeding more efficiently and still getting everything that she needs, so is struggling etc because I'm trying to force her to feed more than she needs? Or does it sound like there could be a problem with reflux?

Sorry it's so long, I'm just really worried.

Could be a growth spurt - feeding more frequently and fussiness are two good indicators for it. How are her nappies?

Marcheline · 10/03/2013 11:39

Nappies are good, lots of wet and dirty ones, colour is a good yellow.

I'd like to think it's a growth spurt, for some reason that makes me feel better - thank you.

2-3 weeks is growth spurt time, so that fits!

Yes defo wouldn't worry if she's getting plenty wet nappies they feed more often just to get supply up sometimes....this time around I just express some if I feel uncomfortable

Marcheline · 10/03/2013 17:20

Thanks everyone. My milk's definitely kicked in good and proper - I have sprayed her in the face three times today! I'm doing a tiny bit of hand expressing to relieve the discomfort but don't want to stimulate the supply too much really.

I'm not very good at breastfeeding so am a bit anxious about it and really keen to establish it properly this time.

The KellyMom link is great, thanks noble. There's loads of really useful bf info on there.
