What do you wear at night to cope with leaky boobs?

I'm sure I've seen recommendations for breast shells on here in the past. I'm so sick of wearing a bra to bed and still waking up smelling of cottage cheese.

I wear just normal breast pads taped to me with microporous tape. Not exactly a good look but works really well as I hate wearing a bra in bed too! I'm hoping that the leaking has started to die down now though...

M&S do really soft and comfy crop tops. I used these with a breat pad for the first couple of months until all settled down.

Here.

shove a muslin down my bra. doesn't deal with the bra but does soak a lit up!

minipie · 09/03/2013 14:21

lansinoh breast pads... but only on my right side as that's the side I sleep on so it's the boob that leaks!

paperclips · 09/03/2013 14:41

Muslin cloth down top, its comfortable and you can swap it during the night if it gets soaked. Wearing a close fitting stretchy vest would hold it in place and be more comfy than a bra. Although i usually found it stayed put ok. I also find boobs leak less if I lie on my back.

paperclips · 09/03/2013 14:42

Oh yes and if you lie on your side you just pull the muslin across more to whichever side needs it more.

Dylanlovesbaez · 09/03/2013 14:44

I used a muslin or a baby flannel inside a soft feeding bra. I actually miss my leaky boobs!

GrandPoohBah · 09/03/2013 17:56

I just lay on a muslin and change my sheets regularly GrinI can't bear wearing a bra in bed and I'm only really leaky if dd unexpectedly sleeps longer or when I let down.

Cakethrow · 09/03/2013 18:18

I use a towel!

stainesmassif · 09/03/2013 18:46

So no breast shell users! I'm sure I didn't imagine it.

I love the stretchy vest plus muslin solution. And it's only taken me to child no 3 to discover.

I got thick washable fabric breast pads off Etsy and wore them pretty much non-stop for the first few months. But I did wear a (n underwired) nursing bra as well.

Lillypadz are silicone nipple covers that stop leaks. (Unless you have strong let down reflex). they are expensive but very conveinient if they work for you. To me a breast shell is for collecting leaks but they have a little gap to pour the milk out so only work if you stand or sit up. I experienced many times forgetting they were there then bending to tie a shoe or whatever and pouring a cup full if milk all over everything.

The vests from Primark that have an inbuilt support, I find that it keeps the breast pads in place and gives a bit of support without making my boobs a funny shape when they get full. I think they are about £2.50.

stainesmassif · 11/03/2013 13:51

Lillypadz! That's it!! Smile

yes I found the shells fill up and leak. there is nothing worse than milk dribbling down your rib cage IMO.
