Need advice re 3 day old dd1's feeding

Would be grateful for some advice about my dd1's feeding and if it's normal.

Day 1: she slept almost the whole day. I tried to feed her a few times but she wasn't interested. She only fed once for 15 mins. She made 6 dirty diapers, all except one were poop.

Day 2: she only fed 4 times, one of which was finger feeding of pumped milk. Had 8 nappy changes, mostly poop.

Day 3: fed 6 times, 2 of which were finger feeds. 2 wet nappies. This is what she did before leaving the hospital around 3pm.

None of these feeds lasted more than 25 minutes. I attempted lots of times but she wasn't interested, was very drowsy. Lactation specialist said she was difficult to rouse so I MUST rouse her to feed at least every 2-3 hours whether she liked it or not. She also suggested I hire a pump, a d instructed me to pump both sides for 15 minutes after every daytime feed, and give her what I expressed by finger feed/syringe. This would also get my milk to come in better. I hired the pump.

Forgot to say, baby weighed 8 lbs 11oz at birth and now weighs 8 lbs even. This is still under 10% loss and fine but nurses were worried about her drowsiness at feeding.

When we got home yesterday I followed the instructions but the schedule of feeds and pumping basically meant as soon as I finished it was time to start again. I was v tired and had no time to just enjoy her. In the evening I decided to just feed on demand and then make sure not to let her go more than 2.5 hours before next feed.

So last night she cried for feed every 1-1.5 hours and the feed for an average of 15 minutes before falling asleep at the breast. She mainly only wanted one side per feed.

Since midnight (it's 07:37 where i am) she's had 7 feeds lasting between 8-20 minutes each. She's also done 2 impressive poops and one wet nappy.

Is this normal?! Glad she's feeding now but some were only 8-10 minutes.

The timing of feeds innit critical

Watch the baby not the clock

Is your daughter - good colour, alert when awake and plenty of poo and wee?

Feeding every 1.5 - 2 hours is good

Your milk may not have come in yet so things may change again in the next day or so

Always offer both breasts and your DD may or may not take

If it helps to reassure you, my daughter can completely empty a boob in about 5 mins flat. She's just a very efficient feeder.

I know I still need to call the HV but do you reckon the pump is necessary?

I wouldn't pump

Just put baby to the breast a lot!
