after over five happy breastfeeding years, my ds has self weaned. All good.
however the centre of my right breast is a bit hard and tender, like a blocked duct, although I'm not producing milk any more. And I no longer have a breastfeeding child to help clear it up. Massage and general mucking about with it (which always worked for me when I was properly lactating) just results in a slightly more tender breast for a few days.

it's not clearing up on its own. been a few weeks and I thought it would just break down in time.

could this be a residual blocked duct, or something else perhaps? should I wait a bit longer?

thanks!

Could be a residual blocked duct, yes. I'm taking it that it's not that long since your ds actually stopped?

You need to get it checked out - you knew that, didn't you? :)

well, its probably a couple of months at least I think since he actually nursed. And I'm not freaking out because it feels so much like a blocked duct and not like anything sinister. ( bigger, tender, hardish)

but yes, I am avoiding going to the gp, well spotted Blush. I feel like such a timewaster every time I go. and if it is a residual blocked duct, what's to be done anyway. is there an intervention or would i just wait longer for it to resolve itself?

Sometimes ultrasound can be used with blocked ducts.

But get a medical opinion :)
