16 week old feeding every 2 hours

Hi

Any advice would be welcome. Dd is 16 weeks old and ebf. She was going 3-4 hours between feeds but for about 2 weeks she has fed every 2 hours.

It's taking it's toll at night now. For example last night she fed at 1130, 1am, 2.30, 4am, 6.30am. Each time she feeds for 10 minutes on each side which means I'm awake lots during the night. I also have a toddler so I am guilty of feeding her at every cry because I can't bear the thought of her waking him up.

Where am I going wrong? I'm so tempted just to switch to formula. All my friends babies sleep for longer stretches, their husbands can help, and at least they have some sort of a life!

Any advice would be welcome xxxxxx

Going through the same here with my 17wo - apparently there's a 4-month growth spurt/sleep regression - so it's normal I'm told, and just a case of riding it out and hoping it doesn't last long!!

You're not doing anything wrong!

I really feel for you but it is that she's just being a 'normal' baby Smile

At 4 months it could be: growth spurt? Teething? Waking more due to meeting other milestones?

It is a case of riding it out sometimes. It might be over in a few days or a couple of weeks. It is common for a 4 month sleep regression (google this)

There is no link that formula makes for better sleepers. However. If you need a break, perhaps get DP/DH to give a bottle as a one off and see how you feel after a better nights sleep.

Same here it will get better. It is a 4 month growth and sleep regression. Formula will not make your baby sleep longer. On my post natal thread there are a lot of FF babies doing this too. You are not doing anything wrong.

Have you tried to see if the crying will wake your toddler? My 2yo woke when baby first arrived, but now she just ignores it and rolls over. I do not let my boy cry for long, but do give him the opportunity to try to self settle. Sometimes it works, sometimes not.
