14 month weaning from BF

My baby has been BF with one FF per day from birth (almost). I went back to work after 3 weeks so we went to two FF a day pretty early.

She's now having 2 BF a day (morning and evening). I'm dropping the evening feed and so planning on only doing morning.

Questions are

  1. Does she still need 3 milk feeds a day? Btw she eats everything and has 3 meals a day and the odd mandarin or something similar for a snack.
  2. If she's still having milk feeds should they be formula (which they are now) or cow's milk. I have an unexplained aversion to cow's milk. Is there an alternative?

well the WHO says bf until at least 2
so if you don't want to stop then you are better not to.
one feed in the morning and one at night is plenty :)

sorry, you said you were dropping evening one.
you might find it easier to keep evening one- it's got sleepy chemicals in and is a lively way to reconnect at the end of the day

lovely

Nope, no need to replace breastfeeds with other milk feeds at that age (unless your toddler wants them) as long as they're getting the relevant nutrients from somewhere. My DS1 never had formula and doesn't like cow's milk as a drink - just eats lots of yoghurt.

Any reason why you're averse to straight cow's milk and not cow's milk formula?

I'm due in September so hoping to wean by then. Also with work issues the night/evening feed is becoming impossible. It's been a bit of a struggle to put it mildly to get to this point.
We're nearing the end of our BF road and I don't really know what to do.

I'm mortified to say I didn't realise that formula was cow milk based. Makes my aversion to simple cows milk seem absurd.

So what do I do?

you do what feels right.
what you suggested in your op.

you don't need to give formula or milk for calcium and protein.
lots of food has calcium and protein in.

or even other milk like nut milk or rice milk or oat milk. all are okay after 1yo.
