BF baby, upset tummy?

Hello all

Wondering if anyone can help shed light on this. I have an 8 WO who I EBF. She's done the typical 'store up a poo' and let rip a few days later a couple of times but over the last week she's had a few days where it's almost been like she's had diarrhoea. The first day is had a mild curry so I assumed it was the spice etc and the next day, that she was still a bit loose. It's been 5 days now and while she might have a spell of just wee, she's still having very wet explosive nappies.

Is it possible that she has a sensitivity to something I'm eating? I'm not eating anything too strong, just in case but I'm getting quite worried about her. Luckily we had her checkup 2 days ago & the dr said 'babies do big nappies' but its becoming a regular thing to have to strip her down and bath her. She's also not quite reaching her weight target. Wondering if I should have insisted more with the GP?

Any thoughts? I'd appreciate it.

what does the poo look like and smell like? if it's bright yellow and doesn't smell too bad then maybe it's just a phase? our baby went had a few weeks where she'd only poo once every few days, and it was a BIG one, often needed a full outfit change and a bath! but now she is 10 week she poos twice a day. we were reassured by the kellymom website which says ebf babies can go for days without pooing and it's fine!

if you think the poo isn't right then look into allergies and elimination diets.

The colour is right (mustardy) but its really, really liquid and about 6 times in a row? Not too worried about the storing, just wondered if it was related?

Starting a food diary I think

From memory, mine used to do that at that age. I used to watch the poo rise up out of the nappy and then we'd do it all over again several times. Very liquid too with the odd bit of curd like stuff.

Yes that's it

Ok so it's hopefully just her gut learning and I can putty hose away soon. Is it actually the case that what you eat that day really transfers into your milk? I mean, I know spice and alcohol do but I'm kind of curious about the mechanics of it now I guess.

I get curious about such things xD

I never worried at all about what I ate, after all different nationalities manage to BF whilst carrying on with their normal diets, obviously that excludes true allergies but I think you would have a very unhappy baby if that was the case.
I vividly remember taking my DD to a wedding when she was 12 weeks, she didn't make a sound but the poo did and necessitated a complete change of clothes in the back of the car.

You do eventually get to going out without several changes of clothes. Smile

See, that's always been my attitude but age started being sick when I ate large quantities of cheese and good grief the curry nappy.... It was like a poo-nami!

The noise is spectacular, peo

I had a spicy curry last night and baby's last two poos have been SO liquidy! Nothing else I've eaten has had any effect before. she seemed contented though so I'll not be cutting out curry!

Beginning to suspect its coffee- we're onto a week of liquid nappies but the quantity has slowed atleast!
