Advice on resuming BFing from low supply

DS is now basically ff - has been for about 3 weeks.

I want to regain a few feeds of breast milk (2?) during the day - the first feed, and the 3rd possibly.. and want advice about the best way of doing this.

I have a fortnight of family support of the christmas period so thought that this might be a good time to do this.

Is it even possible. I do have a supply still - I get let downs when DS feeds - but it's not much of a supply. I used to have loads in the morning, for example, and now DS gets frustrated there is so little (have only been using a bottle for this feed for about 4 days).
Ds has gone back to a night feed also, which I've been happily giving on the basis it might improve my supply, btu it doesn't seem to be doing much.

Ideally, I want to aim for a state of affairs where I am BFing one feed or two when he has weaned, and still giving him formula for the pre bed feed perhaps.

I got back to bf after a ten day formula break while DS was ill at 3 weeks. Yes, it's totally possible but I had to just feed, feed and feed some more, gradually reducing bottle top ups over a week and then when I had the weekend with dh there I just stopped the bottles as I felt supply had come up and it then boosted further. However I'm not sure I could have increased supply and only done that by doing some feeds. I think to get supply up initially you'd have to go at it full time for a while. I'm now weaning and could now do that but would have been scared that if I'd done it too soon I'd have lost supply and I worked too hard to get it back to risk that!

I also drank lots of water, rested etc.! Good luck.

Hello! It is definitely possible! Go for it! The more you let him feed the more you will produce - supply on demand! If I were you I'd replace the formula feeds with breast milk but feed him just before he'd normally have his feed so that he's not really, really hungry but will latch on nicely. This will tell your body to make more milk for him. It won't take long to build up your supplies again. Good luck x

You can also try motilium to bring up your supply, in addition to feeding on demand.
