Bit of a silly question re. Nursing Bras ....

Ghosty · 09/01/2004 22:23

Just a quick silly question really ...
Do I need to get new nursing bras or will the ones I had for DS 4 years ago do???????

The Elle McPherson ones are so pretty and I want to get a couple but I need to justify it to DH

TIA ...

Ghosty if they still fit you, I would make do rather than spending a fortune on new ones.

Oakmaiden · 09/01/2004 22:27

You will probably need new ones - you are very unlikely to be exactly the same size this time around. Oh, what a shame....

marlou · 09/01/2004 22:27

Tell him you are a different size this time and could really do with some new ones!!

princesspeahead · 09/01/2004 22:28

ghosty, buy the bloody bras and don't justify anything to dh! I'm sure he will trust you on this one!

suzywong · 09/01/2004 22:30

Tell him you must have them or you will be bad tempered
Lucky you, I can't find them anywhere here in my size

aloha · 09/01/2004 22:48

You DESERVE lilac bras. You NEED lilac bras. Don't discuss this with your dh at all. Regard it as part of keeping the mystery in your marriage
Also you obviously also NEED the matching knickers. Buy two pairs. They wear out faster than bras.

PS Suzywong, figleaves.com do them.

suzywong · 09/01/2004 22:52

aloha you are the font of all knowledge

bobthebaby · 10/01/2004 03:32

Justification is that one bra is about the same price as a couple of weeks worth of formula. (I don't actually know how expensive formula is as I've never used it - but then, neither will your dh)

Oh, just tell him Farmers had 30% off all underwear.

I still look at nursing bras as mine are very grey and ropey looking 10 months on, but I feel that I can't justify it, even though I want to bf for at least another 10 months.

morocco · 10/01/2004 11:37

jealous that you can fit into those Elle McPherson bras - why oh why are they only in small sizes??? - go for it big time!

maretta · 10/01/2004 12:10

The justification is that you'll have just had a baby and need something to make you feel gorgeous and feminine.

Some other nursing bras look like industrial bandages - very bad for the self-esteem. Go for the pink.

suzywong · 10/01/2004 12:57

morocco - me too
Although I am quite fond of my chewing-gum grey EmmaJanes I long for some glamour

motherinferior · 10/01/2004 13:21

Ghosty, anyone who is worried about PND definitely needs to avert it by buying gorgeous undies, definitely. Regard it as a Strategy, and congratulate yourself

My Emma-Janes are black, but that's all you can say for them!

Ghosty - since you are planning to feed longer this time you will probably need smaller sizes than last time as you breasts tend to reduce in size after the first couple of months of feeding. There is an added incentive for those elle McPherson bras

motherinferior · 10/01/2004 19:12

Also point out to dh that you will be such a pouting babe that you might actually convince yourself you're up for a spot of nookie (may backfire, this one, of course!)

My bosoms appear to be still around an F-cup, mears...

Demented · 10/01/2004 20:51

Same feelings as everyone else Ghosty, if you are fortunately enough to be able to fit into them you gotta have them girl!

Also I would be very surprised if you were the same size as last time. If you are anything like me anyway, I don't think I have ever been the same bra size twice in the last six years or so.

suzywong · 10/01/2004 20:53

Ghosty, do be sure to post a pic link so us latge uddered girls can covet your posh undies
(btw am NOT a troll!! or Dadslib in disguise)

Ghosty · 10/01/2004 21:19

LOL ... suzywong ...
I take it you mean a pic link of Elle Macpherson in them? You do not mean me? I certainly do NOT look anything like her in them ... but yes ... I am lucky enough to fit into a 36D ...
Went out yesterday and bought a black one and a lilac one ... yay .... thanks girls ...
Cost: NZ$108 ... about 35 squiddlies .... Not tooooooo bad I suppose!!

Matching pants? Go on. Or get Mr Ghosty to shell out on basis of pouting babery...

suzywong · 11/01/2004 15:44

Good on ya Ghosty

Do you know if 36D is the biggest size?

zebra · 11/01/2004 16:08

HIjacking this thread.. .someone gave me some nursing/maternity bras which are too small for me. Wonder if I should try to flog.. but would anybody buy a 2nd hand bra? Would any of you consider buying 2nd hand nursing bras? Unsure what to do with them.

suzywong · 11/01/2004 16:09

No I wouldn't actually, don't know why.
Give them to your antenatal clinic or women's refuge

motherinferior · 11/01/2004 17:20

I wouldn't UNLESS they were really very nice and in my size.

zebra · 11/01/2004 17:25

I will lurk on Ebay and see if any are being bid on... they are 36D Emma Jane make. Seem quite nice to me, just I tend to need a 38 or 40. I am not 'too proud' to use them, but I like & know my friend! Might try the women's shelter, that's a good idea.

Demented · 11/01/2004 20:21

zebra I've seen them being sold or given away "free for postage" on UKP. I personally wouldn't buy a secondhand bra (unless it was the case that the person only wore it once or something) but someone may be really greatful for them.
